Tonight's debate will decide who wins in November
The normal assumptions about presidential debates went out the window when we started thinking this Presidental race was normal
Experts like to say that presidential debates have little sway on whether people will vote for either candidate. The general idea is that people have a strong idea on who they will vote by the time the debates come around. The difference now is the norms of politics have significantly changed. Debates have become the place where the leaders of two rivaling ideologies are actively trying to destroy the other’s character by all means necessary, no topic is off limits.
The candidates in this era of politics don’t try to convince you to vote for them. They simply want the other side not to vote. The Proof of success in this strategy can be seen in 2016 where Hilary Clinton’s abysmal debate performance may have contributed to an extraordinary poor voter turnout for the democrats.
The same could be said for trump in 2020, who lost to Biden following a string of poor debate performances. Just this year we’ve seen how the new era of political debates can decide the political future of candidates. Biden’s debate against Trump literally ended his career. His horrible performance pushed the legacy media who continually protected and championed Biden to turn on him overnight..
Legacy media’s 180 degree turn around was the direct result of Biden’s debate against Trump. The liberal elites who control the media conglomerates saw the writing on the wall. Biden supporters won’t have an incentive to vote for the proven senile figure, let alone vote at all. Inherently the democrats would have been left with the low voter they dealt with in 2016.
The fall out following Bidens 2024 debate against Trump showed at the very least a +5 advantage for Trump by any respectable Poll. A major reversal from a neck and neck race that it was prior to the debate.
Biden isn’t running anymore simply because the liberal elites know people wouldn’t have showed up to vote for him. They know Kamala is their best bet, but one that may not pan out. Kamala has had little airtime and has yet to do a formal press conference since becoming the presumptive Democratic nominee two months ago. The narrative about Kamala is that she is ill equipped and underqualified to handle America’s problems. Whether that is true or not, largely depends on how she can answer questions under pressure without a script.
The debate tonight will hopefully shed light on her intellectual capability that has alluded the press. Trump has his work cut out for him too. ABC news may not be as impartial or at the very least favorable to his rhetoric. They will surely “fact” check him as much as they can. Kamala will also be looking for her moment. She’ll capitalize on any shortfalls from Trump’s debate responses.
America is at an infliction point. Each side is trying to subdue the other. The winner of the debate won’t be decided on the desk of a political analyst but rather on how many “Got you” moments and gaffs each side could conjure up and post on X. The name of the game is to make each other look like the’ Commie” or “criminal”.
