The First presidential debate of 2024 was a beat down delivered flawlessly by a straight-faced former President Trump. He exhibited a calm demeanor that destroyed the notion put out by Biden and his comrades that he is a man set out on retribution. What Trump brought to the debate stage was professionalism. Of course, he had his moments that were way less than desirable, but he did good. He didn’t stoop down to personal attacks on Biden’s family and only mentioned Hunter’s criminal record when Biden’s personal rhetoric against Trump was derogatory and straight up unpresidential.
I did not expect Trump to perform the way he did. I was surprised by his ability to make clear on what needs to be fixed the most in our country:
- Border
- Inflation
- Ukraine war
- Lack of support for Israel
- Lack of veteran support
And he wrapped all the issues facing these topics into one overarching point; under Biden’s leadership no issues will be fixed.
Trump talked about policy over personal. He called out the lies and rumors parroted by Biden. Trump brought forward real policy concerns shared amongst many Americans, through a republican lens of course.
If the election were to be held today, the day after the debate, Trump would win through a landslide. His Poll numbers within the last couple of days have shown a pattern that signifies a surge in support. It also shows the legal-political obstacles that the Biden D.O.J and renegade liberal judges have put Infront of trump hasn’t worked. Instead, it may have benefited trump more than anything.
Trump leads Biden in most polling conducted by reputable sources:
New York times/Siena College has him over Biden by 7 points on a poll conducted on June 20-25. Similar leads are being seen in a variety of Polls conducted by various institutions. According to 538 Polls website:
What comes next in this tumultuous presidential race is a speculator’s dream. The millions of dollars spent on Biden’s reelection campaign will most likely be a waste if Biden were to drop out. More money would have to be spent just to rehabilitate the party’s credibility after months of denying Biden’s apparent social and cognitive abilities.
This is not to say that a stuttering problem or different manner in speaking should disqualify a president from running, it does however cast doubt on his ability to beat trump in a presidential race. To that end, I think Biden whether in his “well-meaning elderly man” state or the younger man he was when he ran for president in 1988 would still lose the race against trump.
It looks like he fulfilled his lifelong dream to be president. He’s got it, he just doesn’t know he’s there.
Very well written. My sentiments exactly.
